BUDDIES
We welcome you to Buddies, and introduce ourselves.
Buddies is a Buderim-based group who advocate for just and compassionate treatment of refugees consistent with the human rights standards which Australia has developed and endorsed.
We support policies towards asylum seekers that reflect respect, decency and traditional Australian generosity to those in need while advancing Australias international standing and national interests.
We are an independent group, loosely affiliated with A Just Australia, and with Rural Australians for Refugees.
Our Buddies projects uplift refugees lives right now. We believe that every time a refugee receives support and caring, hope flickers a little brighter, and the energy to endure extends a little longer.
Our Buddies group has 3 main focuses:
- Community education to find and publicise the truth about the refugee and asylum-seeker situation in Australia.
- Hospitality offering Refugees and Support Centre Carers short breaks up here on our beautiful Sunshine Coast.
- Lobbying and Advocacy lobbying our politicians, advocating for Refugees. (Sometimes some fund-raising is necessary, too)
You are invited most enthusiastically to join one or more of these interest groups as soon as you would like to do so.
If you are happier to simply come to the general meetings, and hopefully join in when activities happen, then thats OK, too.
We are pleased that you are interested.
Our meetings are held on certain Sundays, 11am-1pm, in Buderim. (Please bring a plate.)
